Goals galore for Cora Lynn

A STRONG defence and sharp attack led Cora Lynn’s Agrade team to a crushing 54goal win over Longwarry on Saturday.
Cora Lynn started strongly and quickly took control of the game.
Siobhan Ebert and Monique Helliar shot well early until Siobhan had to leave the court due to injury.
She was replaced by Sarah Hester, who then combined well with Monique for the rest of the game.
They were both fed the ball excellently by Letetia Ebert and Bianca Beilby who both put on strong displays through the midcourt.
Steph Curran was best on court, providing many options for the team in wing attack and centre.
The defensive lineup of Pam Cunningham, Bianca Featherstone and Katie Hogan held strong and limited Longwarry’s scoring opportunities.
Katie threw some amazing ‘rocket’ passes that caught the opposition by surprise and set up some easy goals for the shooters.

B GRADE

Cora Lynn, with a different lineup from the previous week, played well for a strong win over Longwarry.
Bella Willis and Kate Gosling goaled well together and were fed beautifully by Kylie Gunton in wing attack and Andy Payne in centre.
Meaghan Greene, Jac Beilby, Courtney Egan and Leanne Scamporlino were consistently strong in defence.
Scores: Cora Lynn 57 d Longwarry 34.
Awards went to Andy Payne and Kylie Gunton.

C GRADE

Cora Lynn played strongly in its last game for the season, but was unable to down the top side Longwarry.
In a closely contested game, Jaimee Dalziel shot beautifully and was well supported by the other goalers.
The defenders worked tirelessly for four quarters and Caroline Hodgetts played exceptionally well in wing defence.
Although the teams were level at the end of the third quarter, Cora Lynn eventually lost by five goals.
All of the team should be proud of their performance and also the 17 and unders who have filled in throughout the year.
Score: Longwarry 39 d Cora Lynn 34.

17 AND UNDER

Cora Lynn started brilliantly in the first quarter with Jessica McMillan and Tahlie Peterson picking off some great passes.
Courtney Golding and Megan Hester brought the ball down with some excellent passes to Courtney Ball and goalers Claire Ahern and Emily Bright.
Score: Longwarry 51 d Cora Lynn 22.
Awards went to Tahlie Peterson and Courtney Ball.

15 AND UNDER

In the last game of the season, Cora Lynn put in an excellent effort.
Emily Dillon, Amy McMillan and Rebecca McTighe combined well in the centre court, enabling Amelia Rovers and Sarah Kemp numerous attempts at goal.
Kellie Gardiner played a strong game in wing defence, backing up Jessica McMillan and Emily Bright on their many intercepts as well as taking many of her own.
Score: Longwarry 20 d Cora Lynn 10.
Award went to Jessica McMillan.

13 AND UNDER

Cora Lynn fought for all four quarters against Longwarry.
Tarlia Carlis, Jessica Chamberlain and Jacqueline Kemp played top games in defence and kept the Longwarry goalers on their toes.
Goalers Rhianna Glew, Ashlee Edwards, Kaycee Gardiner and Amelia Rovers moved well and shot some heartstopping goals.
An excellent effort by Emily Dillon, Emily Brook and Miranda Sillcock in the midcourt.
Score: Longwarry 22 d Cora Lynn 16.
Awards went to Emily Dillon and Tarlia Caris.
