Gritty Garfield wins thriller

GARFIELD Netball Club’s Agrade team displayed commitment and determination to down Morwell by eight goals in a thrilling game on Saturday.
Morwell played a very skilful and disciplined game to lead at the first break.
However Garfield’s commitment and determination enabled it to overtake Morwell for the rest of the game.
Bess Henry delivered some superb deliveries into the goal ring, while Lisa Biffen and Jade Dawes dominated the strong Morwell goalers.

The first half of the match was a close encounter between two strong sides with both going goal for goal.
Garfield lifted in the second half, with Lisa Cowburn feeding the ball into the goal ring with speed and accuracy.
Di Collis and Heath Mills created many turnovers to help the team secure the points

Garfield had another big win, this time by shutting down a lacklustre Morwell.
The win came about through accurate goaling from Chris Mouser and Becky Hower.
Strong centrecourt play from Sally Harper and Kareena Miller ensured direct leading and clean passing into the goal ring to bring about the win.

This was the best game Garfield has played all season and was due to a combined team effort.
Renae Wright shot goals accurately and Beth Bogart assisted in working the ball through the centre skilfully while Tegan Edwards again combined speed and accuracy to deliver the ball to the goalers.
Josie Johnston, Bec Draper and Casey Dawes worked together to create a strong defence lineup that Morwell had difficulties penetrating.

Garfield was missing key players due to illness and Tamara Monson and Ruby Collis, from the 13andunder team filled in, showing they will be valuable players in the future.
Goaler, Brooke Cousin shot accurately and was ably supported by Jessie Scamporlino outside the ring.
Katie O’Dea played a skilful game in centre and goal attack. Kassie Burge and Karley Matthews combined as a strong, tight defence lineup that created many rebounds and turnovers for the team.

Brittany Taylor again played an outstanding game by intercepting, leading in front and delivering the ball to her teammates with accuracy.
Meg Bogart played a skilful and speedy game in centre and assisted with many passes throughout the game.
Tamara Monson positioned herself well within the goal ring and was always in front, despite the low score.
Tegan Chick came on in the second half and is growing into a quick and strong defensive player.
