WHEN it comes to recycling, the message is that the community is getting better at it, but still has a long way to go.
A recent waste management report to Cardinia Shire Council found contractors had noticed a big improvement in the quality of recyclable materials coming from local collections.
The report said council would continue to target problem areas. It found 23 per cent of bins collected in recent months contained nonconforming material.
A recent local government placed Cardinia Shire 53rd out of the 79 Victorian municipalities in terms of the amount of recycling done by residents.
