AN excellent 72 by Pakenham Agrade captain Ruwan Weerawarunda helped it to a defendable 170 against Devon Meadows on Saturday.
Playing at the Cranbourne turf wicket for the first time in the Steve Vivian Memorial Match, the Lions won the toss and elected to bat.
However they did not get off to a good start, being 3/5 until Weerawarunda rescued the situation. Alan Ruddell also helped with 26 runs.
A late partnership between Dale McCraw and Denis Porter saw the score to 170.
Pakenham bowled and had Devon Meadows 3/55 at stumps.
Tight bowling saw Dale Haggar take two wickets and the third to Sean Gramc.

Losing the toss and bowling, Pakenham’s Shannon Hayhow and Ash Bailey opened.
Hayhow had his careerbest figures with 7/46 off 21 overs and Bailey 2/30 off 15.
Captain Mark Shelton took the last wicket 1/10.
Merinda Park ended the innings with 134 runs on the board.
With 15 overs to finish the day, Pakenham is 1/34.
Kulantha Ramanayayake is on 23 and Greg Mays 10 notout.

Pakenham lost the toss against Nar Nar Goon and bowled.
New player Savid Nathan opened the bowling and had a solid spell without luck. Adrian Bailey also opened and got an early wicket.
Ron McKinnon bowled well taking 3/50 and Aaron Galloway also got a wicket.
Nar Nar Goon declared on 6/277 and Pakenham batted for 14 overs.
Savid Nathan went quickly and Rod McKinnon ended on eight notout. Adam Rensonnet is 20 notout.

Emerald won the toss and sent Pakenham in to bowl.
The Lions failed to get a wicket for 25 overs after their opening three batsmen retired on 50.
Finally in the 26th over, Matt Robinson broke thought and then wickets started to fall via Matt Ursell, David Lane and Jesse Hayhow taking the final wickets setting The Lions 290 to win.
However wickets fell frequently with Sean Mealor (36) and Matt Robinson (19).
Luke Jackson was left stranded on five not out and Pakenham all out for 94.

Pakenham played against Emerald Black and lost the toss and bowled.
On a fast ground the opposition was 3/55 at drinks.
Daniel Doyle and Jarryd Davies both bowled tightly. Phil Ross came in and bowled superbly, taking 3/14 and getting a runout.
Despite 43 extras, the Lions dismissed Emerald Black 8/175 with Andrew Alenson 34 notout.

Playing Devon Meadows, Pakenham Gold was asked to field.
The ground was very quick and no wicket was taken until 52 runs were scored.
Devon Meadows finished on 6/169.
Wicket takers for Pakenham were Michael Moxion (3/112), Ben Parker (2/15) and Shannon Mitchell (1/9).

Playing at Officer, Pakenham lost the toss and was asked to field.
The Lions bowled well and after the 20 overs Officer had made only 18.
Pakenham then made 89 runs for a good win.
Best of the batsmen were Zac Oldfield, DylanJack Murphy and Blake Rout.
The Brumby’s award went to Lachlan McKelvie and the Bams Ball to Koby Virgona.

This weekend will see the second day of the third annual Steve Vivian memorial match at the Cranbourne Racecourse turf wicket.
At 3pm there will be light refreshments and a gettogether at the end of the game and a match presentation.
Former teammates and adversaries are invited to attend.
The trivia night will be held on 24 February.
