So, it’s on with the show

By Jim Mynard
LANG Lang Show Society adopted a steadyaswego pathway at its 2006 annual meeting and dinner after reports of a good show, good rodeo and good year for the society.
All officebearers and committee members were reelected to their respective positions.
President Alan Light said in his annual report that entries had been down slightly in some sections of the show because of the hot day, but overall the day was successful.
He said the committee called on former Lang Lang Show competitor and showjumping judge Harry Stanton to officially open the show.
“Harry first competed at Lang Lang 50 years ago,” he said.
He noted the continuing strength of the Beef Spectacular, the carcass competition, equestrian and dog sections.
Mr Light said Lang Lang now had the best showjumping surface in Victoria for open and junior riders.
He commended the team of workers for their continued support.
Mr Light also noted the death during the year of muchloved committee member Inez Stewart.
Central and South show societies’ group president Wayne Loughnan said that despite some reports to the contrary, show groups in the area were running well.
Mr Loughnan said the Lang Lang Show Society was unique because it owned the showgrounds.
“Never let it go,” Mr Loughnan said.
