Thieves go a bit troppo in the heat

Sarah Schwager
IT seems the heat wave has affected Cardinia’s criminals, given the unusual crime wave in the area in the past week.
A number of bizarre holiday robberies have left police baffled.
The kiosk at Emerald Lake was broken into last week and thieves got away with two large tubs of ice cream after smashing a window at the café.
The theft happened around 6am on 16 January.
Last Wednesday night thieves got hold of mini cars at Gumbuya Park in Tynong North.
They then drove the amusement cars through the front door of the park’s restaurant, setting off the alarm.
Police said they thought the thieves were attempting to rob the property but said they had bolted before anything was stolen.
The incident happened between 5.30pm on 18 January and 7am on 19 January.
Anyone with any information about the incidents should contact Pakenham CIU on 5941 1033 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
