Top team at Pakenham

IT was a team triumph for Tasi Taito, Fred Uini, Soma Siavallia and Sam Maota at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
They were winners of the Hartball competition, an Ambrose style of play – best ball with each hole, with teams having two designated drivers and two putters that rotate after each hole.
Thirtyeight teams of four teed off and some excellent golf was played, plus plenty of fun along the way.
The results were very close overall with the winning team coming in with 58 5/8 to win from Stojko Kresojevic, Mason Shadwell, David Shannon and Tym Davey with 58 3/4.
Third place went to David Horne, Scott Phillips, Beau Wheeler and Scott Hooper with 60, followed by Col MacLean, Brian Delaney, Ross MacLean and Simon Fay with 60 1/4 on a countback.
Rick McHugh, Rob Morley Maurice Rossetti and Al Campbell came in with 60 1/4, Grant McKay, Cass Bannister, Miro Majstorovic and Rodney Whitehead 60 3/8, Bob Dowse, Paul Hobson, Doug Law and P. Kiewel 60 1/2 and Andrew Villinger, Clint Walker, Scott Milnes and Peter Brown 60 7/8.
The men’s nearest the pin on the second hole was won by David Shannon with Lee Andrews the winner of the Ladies on the second hole.
Scott Irwin was all over the flag on the Subway fifth hole, Ian Mortimer was the winner on the Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole and the Hungry Jack’s 14th was won by Phil Tunstall.
George Wheeler was the winner of the Pakenham Pizza 16th hole.

Friday, 30 March is the club’s big day of the year its seventh proam, sponsored by Rawdon Hill.
There are still spots available for the morning round see Jason or Shannon in the golf shop.
Cost is $36 including lunch and assembly time is 6.45am.

The Stableford competition attracted 66 players with many taking advantage of the public holiday.
Jay Young was the winner with a great score of 48 points to win from Peter Lawlor and Fred Uini with 43 points.
Downtheline winners were Albert Hill 42, Ray Wilson, Steve Chapman and Rob Young with 41.
They were followed by Bob Morrison, Beau Wheeler, Ian Mortimer, Ray Shalders, Vilie Koroknai and Dennis Stilborn all coming in with 40 points.
Nearest the pin went to Leigh Burton.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:WEDNESDAY RESULTS

The competition was played in perfect golfing conditions and David McArthur came in with 44 points to win on a countback from Max Cole with Bob Yates close behind with 43.
Downtheline balls went to Anthony Wynen 41, Steve Chapman 41, Jay Young 41, Patrick Duane 40, Bert Burniston 40, Damien Calvert 40, Kevin Wraight 39, Ron Seamer 39, John Kingman 39, Scott Hooper 39, Shirley Roberts 39 and Fred Uini 39.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Brian Doherty, the eighth to Sam Maota and the 16th to Stan Gilbert.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:TWILIGHT RESULTS

The twilight competition will end, due to daylight saving ending on Sunday 25 March and this Wednesday is the final one.
The social winner for last Wednesday was Ray Leonard and the meat raffle winner was Andrew Villinger.
Back nine
Ninetyfour players teed off and David McArthur came in with 24 points to win from Tony Wynen with 23.
Down the lines went to Michael Popov and Tony Hockley 22, Brian Webster 21, Shirley Roberts 21, Kevin Wraight 21, Ron Seamer 20, Patrick Duane 20, Steve Chapman 20, Nik Hock 20, Bob Yates 20, Matt Roberts 20, Dan Cameron 20 and Roland Dean 20.
Nearest the pin second shot on the 12th went to Tony Hockley and the 14th to Peter Korteman.

Max Hurley was the winner of the Stableford round, coming in with 40 points to win from Jeffrey Le Busque 39, Harry Leo 39, Walter Cooke 38 and Mark Delaney 37.

It was a sunny day for the first round of the Captain’s Knockout on 15 March.
The winners after the first round were:
Dawn Van Roy d June McCardel 1up; Lyn Murray d Liz Garvey 4/2; Joyce Garton d Wendy Carter twoup, Dini Krytenberg d Val Carroll 3/2; Marjorie Dean d Fay Barnes 2/1; Sue King d Loretta Stewart 2/1; Adele Mahony d Julie Hughes 2/1 and Lulla Bishop d Ann Bell 1up.
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Marg Blake and the 14th to Helen Aurish.
There will be a meeting of all members who had previously put their names down for pennant next Thursday, 22 March after golf.
Pennant will begin on 2 April.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:CHARITY DAY

Pakenham ladies held their charity day on Friday, 16 March.
It was a successful day for ‘Windemere’ the club’s charity for 2007.
There were 85 ladies who enjoyed the room decorated with umbrellas, gumboots and dahlias.
Trophies for the day were drought resistant plants from the Outlook Nursery’ at Pakenham.

Bev Morgan and Sue Wise (Barham) 47 points; runnersup Val Johnson and Helen Andreason (Drouin) 45.
Best nine out: Roz King and Kate Linden 24 on a countback.
Best nine in: Marjorie Dean and June McCardel 24.
