Triumphant Bulls head indoors

THE Baw Baw men’s hockey team, hot off their success last season, have ventured into the demanding competition of indoor hockey over the summer months.
This has been an exciting way of keeping fitness levels high while stretching the skill base to accommodate the variation to field hockey.
Indoor hockey is an extremely fastpaced sport which uses a kick board down the sides of a smaller, indoor pitch to continually bounce the ball back in play.
Each side fields six players, including a goalie.
The competition is organised by Hockey Victoria and representative teams compete at national and international levels.
The Baw Baw team has been playing at Braeside at the Skateworld facility.
Meanwhile, preseason training is well under way for field hockey senior players and the club’s registration day is on 18 February.
Anyone interested in playing with Baw Baw Hockey Club this year is asked to come along on that day and express their interest.
Following the signup day, the season’s training program will begin in full.
Baw Baw Hockey Club’s signup day is on Sunday, 18 February from 11am to 1pm at St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School, Bowen Street, Warragul.
There will also be a barbecue, and new players are always welcome.
