LANG Lang is a long way from Chicago, USA, but Erinne Ross is right at home.
Miss Ross, from the University of WisconsinWhitewater, is at Lang Lang Primary School for a month working primarily in a grade five classroom.
She said she was enjoying her time in Australia.
“I’ve very excited about being here it has been a dream for a long time to come and experience all that Australia has to offer,” Miss Ross said. “This year I’ll be graduating from university. I have lived in the state of Illinois all my life and enjoy being active, riding my bike or playing sports.
“After I graduate I intend to teach seventh grade maths, which is considered middle school or junior high in America.
The school’s assistant principal, Michael Smythe, initiated a program of bringing in teachers in training from overseas to have students make connections to people beyond their immediate community. The school has previously hosted a Japanese intern and two teachers in training from Sweden.
Lang Lang Primary has also been visited by a principal from Denmark, lecturers from Umea University, Sweden, and a teacher from New York, whose class emailed Lang Lang students.
Mr Smythe said he was hoping to arrange for a teacher in training from South America or Denmark next year.
