DROUIN took on Yarragon in Agrade division one and posted 186, Ron Harper standing alone for 71.
A GRADE (1)
The Drouin lower order crumbled around Ron Harper, David Sharpe (30) and John Perry (24) both getting starts but being unable to go on. Yarragon’s bowling was good, Brad Wright being best with 3/49 off 23 overs. An outstanding century from Trafalgar’s Graeme Rankin placed his side in a strong position against Warragul.
It was a vital knock with many of the rest of the side finding batting a real struggle. Rankin was dismissed for exactly 100 and Trafalgar was bowled out for 221.
Kale Watkins was the best of the Warragul bowlers, snaring 3/60.
Hallora’s stunning form continued as the side amassed 252 against Ellinbank.
Grant Williams scored 88 with nine boundaries.
Buln Buln’s poor start to the season continued when it was bowled out for 128 by another struggling side, Western Park.
A GRADE (2)
Against Bunyip, Drouin batted first and was dismissed for 116, Justin Hill topscoring with 40.
Lee Robinson bowled well, snaring 4/27 and Zach Jacobs claimed 3/48.
In reply, Bunyip was in trouble at 4/36, Mark Jackson taking 3/26.
Garfield recorded the highest total of the round against Neerim District with 9/297. Bernard Marson was in sensational form, smashing 97, and Paul Tribe made 69.
Mark Tymkin (3/58) and Justin Ratten (3/48) were the best of the Neerim bowlers.
Longwarry restricted Western Park to 160. Glenn Pask bowled brilliantly, claiming 3/34 off 26 overs including 13 maidens, while Bob Thomas, Luke Serong and Beau Ridgway picked up two scalps each.
Iona recovered after a poor start to set 220 against Jindivick. Iona was in trouble early when two of the top three batsmen were dismissed without scoring, but Will Grbic (66) and Shaun Taylor (40) consolidated the innings.
B GRADE (1)
A strong bowling performance by Yarragon restricted Drouin to 149 from 68 overs. Drouin’s top order fought hard, Steve Kleeven and Steve Nottage being equal top scorers on 31.
Longwarry demolished Buln Buln and claimed firstinnings victory with the prospect of an outright result this week.
Buln Buln batted first and was all out for 86, while at stumps Longwarry was 3/105.
Warragul batted first against Trafalgar and was bowled out for 144. In reply Trafalgar was in a strong position at 1/51.
Hallora set Ellinbank 256 after a disastrous start in which saw the side lost 5/31.
B GRADE (2)
Bunyip’s problems with the bat continued last week when they took on Warragul.
Bunyip batted first and was bowled out for 149 with lowerorder batsman Brad Jeffery topscoring with a dashing 45.
Richard Parsonage was the best of the Warragul bowlers, bagging 6/47. Warragul was 3/72 at stumps.
Garfield batted first against Neerim District and made 9/255 from its 70 overs. Opener Rhys Jackson was the best of the batsmen, scoring a stunning 53. Daryl Light (48) and Mark Cousin (43) batted well in the middle order.
Western Park batted first against Longwarry and was bowled out for 164. Chris Kelly (40) and Tim Rowe (25) both batted well in the middle order. Ken Towt was the best of the Longwarry bowlers, bagging 5/53, and Longwarry was 2/45 at stumps.
After being bowled out for 25 last week Jindivick turned its form around scoring 198 against Iona on Saturday.
Karl Mikkelson batted superbly, scoring a hardhitting 97 while Gary Donoghue was the best of the Iona bowlers, bagging 5/60. Iona was in trouble at 2/3 at stumps.
C GRADE
A fine knock of 83 from Neerim’s David Leach helped set a defendable total of 162 in the match against Drouin Maroon. Otherwise there was little resistance from the Neerim batting.
Drouin’s Bruce McGillvray had a good day, bagging 4/16 off 14 overs.
Hallora looked set for outright victory against Drouin Gold. Hallora batted first and made 215 then had the Golds 7/52 at stumps.
Longwarry batted first against Iona and scored a quick 215. Ian Peterson dominated the attack, smashing a brilliant unbeaten 95.
Iona finished the day at 2/70 with Mark O’Farrell on 21 and Tom McCormack 30.
Trafalgar batted first against Yarragon and scored 192 thanks to 99 from Simon Savage. At stumps Yarragon was 0/94.
Buln Buln has already sealed victory against Ellinbank, making 8/170 and then bowling out the opposition for 99.
