Arrests after high speed chase

EMERLD Police have arrested a 18yearold male following a high speed pursuit in Emerald on Sunday evening.
Acting Sergeant Stuart Halligan said the Emerald Police van intercepted a VL Commodore travelling at 100 kmh in a 50 kmh zone in Emerald at 7.37pm.
“The police van was in pursuit for one minute before it was called off,” said Acting Sgt Halligan. Acting Sgt Halligan said the driver of the vehicle, the sole occupant of the car, was detained later at a property in Cockatoo.
Acting Sgt Halligan said police will allege the 18yearold from Macclesfield was also in possession of stolen property, some car radios which were found in the vehicle when the driver arrested.
The 18yearold man was arrested on various traffic charges including dangerous driving, reckless driving and driving an unlicensed vehicle.
A 22yearold male associate from Cockatoo was also arrested for allegedly supplying the vehicle, which was unlicensed.
The 18yearold male was bailed to appear in Dandenong Magistrates’ Court.
