THE consistent Charlie Hardy was on his game again with an excellent 40 Stableford points to win the Saturday Agrade competition at Drouin Golf Club on a countback from Paul Matthews.
The competition attracted a good field of 116 players and was highlighted as a ‘day of countbacks’ in all grades.
Marty Dalziel was the winner of a threeway countback in B Grade, winning with 40 points from Les Madden and Zed Weiclaw.
Danny Gorman (handicap 22) won Cgrade on yet another countback, also scoring 40 points. Runner up was Wayne English.
The day’s better scores came from Peter Devries, Dean Robbins, John Fielden and Stuart Low who all finished with 39.
Nearest the pins – second: Darryl Bryce, fifth: Jim McCormack, 19th: Henk Van Deuren, 23rd: Fred Barton.
Balls down the line went to 38 on a countback and the CCR was 70.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS
There were 101 players who enjoyed the fine conditions for the Stableford competition.
Simon Appleby (11) won A grade with 41 points on a countback from Barry Cunningham. Darryl Bryce was next on 40.
Michael Barry (20) won B grade with the day’s highest score of 42.
Danny Gorman (23) won Cgrade with 40.
Other good scores were John White 39, Ray Waters 39, Benny Wyatt 39, Tony Elliot 38 and Cleo Sahhar 38.
Nearest the pins – second: John White, 19th: Simon Appleby.
The CCR was 71 and balls down the line went to 37 on a countback.
THURSDAY RESULTS
Jim McCormack scored 20 Stableford points to win the men’s section on the seniors’ ninehole competition on Thursday.
Bill Todd, George Connor, Con Norris and Arch Lugton all finished with 19.
This Saturday is the first round of the Robbins Family Trophy a fourballbestball Par event.
LADIES
It was an excellent day on Tuesday, 10 October and a good field turned up to play in the Anthony Bambridge fourballbestball Stableford event on the Centenary Course.

The winners were Peggy Hocking and Glenda Warren with 49 points. Glenda has dropped her handicap to 25.
Runnersup with 47 points were Mary Tymensen and Joyce Pierrehumbert.
Nearest the pin on the second was Mary Tymensen and on the 14th Von Kenny, just a bit closer than Kerryn Milner. The propin was won by Margaret Purcell.
Downtheline balls went to Kerryn Milner and Marion Devlin, 44 points, Poss Leeson and Fay Bastin, 43 points, and Betsy White and Norma Scott on 42 points.
Peggy Hocking and Bernace Miller again played well to win the fourballbestball event at the Keysborough Charity Day.
The Thursday ninehole seniors’ competition was won by Joyce Pierrehumbert, with 21 points. Runnersup were Heather Fitzpatrick, Monica Gidley and Di Baskett all on 18 points.
This week is Gymkhana Day, fourballbestball and is sponsored by Peter Collier from the Drouin Nursery. This will be a shotgun start at 9am.
Next week will be Stableford and is sponsored by Drouin Amcal Pharmacy.
