PAKENHAM Golf Club’s Colin Crowle took advantage of improved weather conditions on Saturday to win the day’s Stableford event with 40 points on a countback.
Rob Sandiford took out A grade with 39 points, also on a countback, and C grade went to Ken Whittaker with 39 points.
The CCR for the day was 71.

Nearest the pins were won by Dan Cameron (golf shop second hole), Russell Slobodiuk (Pakenham Subway fifth hole), Brad Carrigan (Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole), Brian Ford (Hungry Jacks 14th hole) and Rob Sandiford (Pakenham Pizza 16th hole).
The B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth went to Mick McManus and Dale Harrison won the Spalding eagles nest on the 18thth.
The longest drives saw Stojko Kresojevic win the B.M.R. Autos A grade.
Neil Mani was the winner of the Bgrade longest drive and Glen Easto won the McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive.
The raffle was won by Rob Wedlock and Stan Gilbert.
This week is president’s/captain’s day and the following week sees an Irish fourball event.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of the Pakenham Golf Club will be held on Thursday, 1 September at 7.30pm.
Nominations are now open for the board of management and subcommittees.
Forms are on the shelf below the noticeboard in the clubhouse.
Members are asked to show their interest in the club by attending.
MONDAY COMPETITION
Damien Rhyne was the winner of the Stableford competition coming in with 39 points.
Scott Hooper and Rick Gibbs had 38 points and Down the Lines went to Ian Shennan 37, Angie Peluso 36, Keith Massey 34, Stuart Hare 34 and Chris Underwood 34.
Nearest the Pin on the second went to Rick Gibbs and the 14th to Chris Underwood.
WEDNESDAY COMPETITION
Noel Bonne was the winner with 38 points after playing in some very cold conditions.
Downtheline winners were Rob Yates 36, Rory Sutton 35 and Heath Barclay 35.
Nearest the pin on the eighth hole was won by Noel Bonne.
SUNDAY COMPETITION
The morning group probably got the best of the weather for golf last week. Chris Pitts was the winner with 41 points from Ian Fletcher with 40 points.
LADIES
There was no play for the ladies on Thursday due to the inclement weather and the fourball challenge will be held this Thursday.
Friday was a better day and the Pakenham ladies hosted visitors from far and wide to their annual charity day and this year it was Ronald McDonald House at Monash.
A cheque for $720 was presented to representatives of the house who were welcomed to the club.
This amount was raised even though only 40 played on the day.
Members who helped make the day a success were thanked by the club.
Winners of the fourballbestball event were Carol Ronalds and Glenda Gorton for Berwick/Montuna coming in with 42 points.
The runnersup saw Naomi McIntosh and Jayne Thorweston (Berwick/Montuna) with 39 points.
The best nine out went to Wendy Wightman and Adele Mahony 24 points and the best nine in saw Loretta Stewart and Lillian Tait come in with 20 points to win. (All Pakenham members)
Nearest the pin on the second hole went to Gail Richards (Berwick Montuna).
The eighth hole went to Jayne Thorweston (Berwick/Montuna) and the 14th was won by Judy Alexander (Devil Bend).
