NEW sporting facilities in Cardinia Shire are the focus of a council bid to win almost $120,000 in State Government funding.
The council has sought Sport and Recreation Victoria for two new skate parks, possibly in Emerald and Beaconsfield, upgraded facilities at the Nar Nar Goon recreation reserve and a horse riding arena in Huxtable Road.
The council endorsed the funding bid at its meeting on 14 November.
Council is seeking $50,000 for the skate parks, $48,000 for the Nar Nar Goon reserve upgrade and $19,800 for the Huxtable Road reserve improvements.
Council will also seek money to prepare master plans and design proposals for a soccer facility in Henry Road, Pakenham, playing fields at Beaconsfield and a major tennis facility in Pakenham.
