Garfield in tight win

A HARD training run during the week gave the Garfield Agrade girls the edge needed to down Traralgon, albeit by a mere two goals.
Garfield started the game in winning form. Jade Dawes held the Traralgon goalers while Lisa Biffen’s timely interceptions in midcourt gave the team the push it required.
Julie Collis, Bess Henry and Susie Papley were instrumental in the forceful attack that helped deliver the ball into the goals where Bridget Somalis and Mel Hill finished off the team effort.
Score: Garfield 45 d Traralgon 43.

The B grade game was fast and skilful and the lead changed throughout the entire game. Both sides showed plenty of determination to win and it was the defenders who decided the match.
Heath Mills played a tough game and provided many interceptions and gathered loose balls to benefit the team. Helen Collis ran the centre court well and continually presented herself as a supportive team member, reliable and able to deliver the ball were it was needed.
Score: Traralgon 51 d Garfield 49.

The game proved to be another tough contest against a talented team. Garfield was able to keep up with Traralgon for the first quarter but lost some momentum as the game progressed and it proved difficult to cut back on the lead Traralgon had established.
Despite the result full credit is due to Kareena Miller and Casey Robson who played a consistent game and stepped up to the challenge when it was required.
Score: Traralgon 40 d Garfield 24.

The final game was tough against talented opposition but the side persevered to deliver a consistent game. Casey Dawes, once again, starred and was responsible for many turnovers within the defence end; she consistently supported the team down the court.
Kelly McMillan played another superb game and is developing into a valuable player. The highlight of the game was the magnificent goal by Beth Bogart that left the team, spectators and the opposition in awe of her talents. A good finish to a season that has seen the team grow and develop.
Score: Traralgon 45 d Garfield 10.

Before the Stars entered the court for the final game of the season, the girls had a team meeting and a healthy breakfast of pancakes and juice. The team was committed to using the final game as a means of giving their best and come away with a sense of achievement and satisfaction.
Each player had an opportunity to play in a number of positions throughout the game with Katie O’Dea starring in wing attack and Carly Matthews taking the opportunity to demonstrate her goaling ability.
Score: Traralgon 40 d Garfield 6.

A willingness to learn and improve marked the final game of the season. Tamara Monson was a force in goals and shot with consistency. Meg Bogart played the best attacking game for the season, delivering the ball into the ring and making herself available as a backup when needed. Zoe Clarkson defended with strength and is improving her skill each week.
Awards Best on court Zoe Clarkson.
Score: Traralgon 43 d Garfield 7.
