A LANG Lang man is dead and a second man is fighting for his life after a twocar collision in Clyde North on Sunday night.
The crash occurred on BerwickCranbourne Road at about 9.30pm when a red Holden station wagon and a black Holden Frontier collided headon.
The 19yearold driver of the red Holden died at the scene while his backseat passenger, a 19yearold Heath Hill man, was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition.
He is currently in a lifethreatening condition.
A Cockatoo man, 52, who was driving the black Frontier and a 50yearold Cockatoo woman sitting in the frontpassenger seat were both taken to The Alfred hospital with moderate injuries.
Sergeant Pat McGavigan of Casey Traffic Management Unit said they were hoping to speak to any other motorists who may have seen the red Holden travelling along the dark stretch of road around the time.
The man’s death brings the Casey road toll to six for the year. Sixteen people died on Casey roads last year.
“This death makes it three in just over a month on our roads,” Sgt McGavigan said.
“I plead with drivers to take care because we don’t want this trend to continue,” he said
Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Senior Constable Ken Niven on 9705 3111.
