WGCA tips – round 10

By Ian Ferguson
THERE is a new urgency among WGCA teams with two homeandaway games remaining and finals’ positions far from secured.
Catani will be hoping for an outright result against PUT to keep its flickering finals’ hopes alive.
The Blues were brilliant against Beaconsfield in round nine, but the Yabbies will not surrender maximum points, as they could still be the recipients of the dreaded wooden spoon.
It will be an early start for the Sunday fixture at Cardinia when the Bulls host Beaconsfield in the annual Brian Van Den Berghe Memorial match.
Beaconsfield is reeling after its defeat at home to Catani and the Tigers will be desperate to return to the winning list. However the overall depth of the Bulls should prove too much for the inconsistent Beaconsfield batting lineup.
Officer hosts Kooweerup, the new glamour side of West Gippsland cricket. The flamboyant Demons are capable of providing an upset, but the more reliable Bullants should cling on to win a close game.
Merinda Park is now a candidate for relegation following Emerald’s win in round eight at Pakenham Upper and a tight contest at the Toomuc Reserve against Pakenham is likely.
The Lions are tipped to win a titanic struggle.
There are two vital Bgrade fixtures.
KilcundaBass will be looking to reverse its poor form at Cardinia and should just prevail at Bass against Upper Beaconsfield, while Nar Nar GoonMaryknoll has the firepower to overcome the improving Tigers at Beaconsfield.
Agrade tips, with likely winners in capitals: PAKENHAM v Merinda Park, Emerald v DEVON MEADOWS, CATANI v Pakenham UpperToomuc, CARDINIA v Beaconsfield, Clyde v TOORADIN, OFFICER v Kooweerup.
