Garfield knocks over favourite

GARFIELD Bowling Club’s division 2 team had a great victory over the higherrated Yallourn North team on Saturday, winning by 17 shots to gain 14 valuable points.
Scores were: Stephen Whyte, Stephen Bassed, Tom Cleary and Ray Biffin lost to G. Melbourne 1929. Jim Oliver, Les Pumphrey, Hank Woulters and Frank Prins defeated B. Dobson 3821. Gary Payne, Shane Oliver, Bob Lamport and Malcolm Shaw defeated G. Powell 3821. Colin Mills, Stu Robertson, Reg Mattingley and Colin Carmichael lost to J. Wenzel 1922.
Garfield division 6 section 2 lost to Yarragon by 12 shots.
Scores were Bob Hope, Laurence Wright, Wayne Gunton and Bill Doherty lost to B. Roberts 2024. Alex Mentiplay, Geoff Gaskell, Bill Charles and Matthew Smith lost to G. Ralls 1826.
Garfield division 6 section 3 had a good day, defeating Warragul (6) 4944 gaining the 10 points. Scores were Gordon Beer, Don Knight, Barrie Smith and Wes Goodman defeated M. Porter 2521. Les Shatwell, Keith Sainsbery, John Rose and Adrian Helmuth defeated M. Portelli 2423.

The Garfield ladies team had a sad day on Tuesday, losing its match by a shot against Moe.
Scores were Joan Garvey, Gordon Beer, Joan Donovan and Margaret Charles lost to C. O’Reilly 2028. Eleanor Lee, Judy Prentice, Bev Sainsbery and Fay Carmichael defeated M. Bartley 2715. Lyn Oliver, Bill Charles, Pat Marriott and Maureen Lamport lost to B. Galloway 1722.
