The eight round of the VLBA pennant draw for Tuesday, 21 November was abandoned at lunchtime, right across the Metropolitan area, due to soaring temperatures.
The VLBA ruling on inclement weather is that in the event of excessive heat, during a pennant match, both side captains shall phone the weather bureau’s open line at 12.55pm and if the city temperature given, is 34 degrees or more, all metropolitan pennant matches shall be abandoned.
One point is awarded to each side.
It was confirmed shortly after 1pm that the temperature had reached 35 degrees at the Melbourne Bureau of Meteorology and the game was then abandoned.
