HARKAWAY resident Thomas Lee has called on people living in the King Road area to protest against a proposed water tower at 16 King Road.
Dr Lee said in a letter to the City of Casey that the area was in a green wedge zone and the water tower would impact on the amenity.
Dr Lee said the tower would be 14 metres away from King Road and would directly affect the outlook of his property.
He said the tower was to supply water to the Aranmore estate and should be kept in that estate.
“The claim that the structure will be shielded by existing bush is false,” he said. “There are no adequate bushes around and it will take many years of active growing before a structure of 18 metres could be sensibly shielded.
“The applicant’s indication that the proposal has met all usual council requirement is misleading. The structure serves to improve the infrastructure of the Aranmore estate at the expense of other properties in the area.”
Dr Lee said it was important that people who objected to the water tower had their objections to the council by this Friday.
