CASEY residents have been asked to support the ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ campaign aimed at recycling more printer cartridges.
Casey mayor Kevin Bradford said 18 million printer cartridges ended up in Australia’s landfills every year.
He said it was important that everyone stopped dumping and recycled their old printer cartridges.
“The Cartridges 4 Planet Ark campaign has set up special printer cartridge recycling bins in more than 2300 participating Australia Post, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, Tandy, Dick Smith Electronics and PowerHouse stores.
“The equivalent of 30 Boeing 737 planes in weight has already been diverted from landfill as a result of the campaign,” he said.
He said residents could drop off any kind of printer cartridge for recycling, regardless of make or condition.
“Everything collected by the Cartridges 4 Planet Ark program is remanufactured where possible.
“This means that none of the donated cartridges end up in landfills.”
