Profile us on web: Wreford

By Jim Mynard
SPRINGFIELD Ward councillor Lorraine Wreford wants the profiles of all councillors posted on the council’s website.
She asked during the Tuesday, 21 November council meeting that the profiles list councillors’ service times, committee chair positions, qualifications, memberships, political affiliations, goals for their wards and the council, interests, employment experience, and other relevant information about the councillor.
Cr Wreford presented slides depicting what other councils had posted on the web.
“We are public figures and this information should be made available,” she said.
Four Oaks Ward councillor Rob Wilson said the idea would allow residents to know something about their councillors.
Four Oaks Ward councillor Paul Richardson said he supported the idea, but questioned why it was necessary to list qualifications.
“I also question the need to list employment experience,” he said.
“It should be OK provided councillors tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
Deputy mayor Kevin Bradford successfully asked that Casey’s manager of communications, Ros Britz, brief the councillors on what information should go on the website.
