Bulls charge back

CARDINIA came back after a frustrating first session to dismiss PUT in A grade, but found the going tougher in the field in B grade.

A GRADE

Against Pakenham Upper-Toomuc, Cameron Knight won the toss and elected to bowl. PUT went to tea at 3/126 after an eventful first session went in the Yabbies’ favour. Knight (1/41), John Grogan (1/41) and a direct run out by Ben DaRose took the three scalps.
Cardinia came to life after the break, Dwayne Doig snared 4/77 from 23 overs and Ben DaRose bowled 17 overs for 2/43. Luke Turner gobbled up two sharp catches, as did Danny Linton and John Grogan. PUT was bowled out for 224.
With eight overs remaining, John Nooy and Ben DaRose were not out on 11 and 6 respectively after Dwayne Doig had played on for 3. Cardinia was 1/23.

B GRADE

In a heated clash at Cardinia, Cranbourne Meadows compiled 9/263. Chris Remy was the main wicket taker, claiming 6/82. Ryan Kitchin toiled hard for 1/38. Matthew Argoon bowled superb off-spin and took 1/29 and Shane Webster 1/54. It will take an exceptional team performance for Cardinia to take the points.

E GRADE

Playing Tooradin, Cardinia lost the toss and was asked to bowl. The usually economical attack was hit to all corners of the park, the Seagulls finishing 9/262. Wayne Snooks took 2/79, Chris Lemmon captured 3/42 and Cam Haynes, Jake Jeffries and Geoff Williams all took one wicket each. Cardinia will also have to bat well to get the required runs.

UNDER 16

Playing at Kilcunda-Bass, the Cardinia youngsters had the home side 5/38. However the lower order played well and got the score to 108. Daniel Glen bowled tidily for 2/13, as did Jack Cole (2/8). Daniel Kitchin (3/31) and Ricky Campbell (3/30) both bowled well.

UNDER 14

Playing Clyde at home, Cardinia lost the toss and was asked to bowl. Travis Welsh bowled exceptionally, claiming 3/9. Travis Kitchin, Brad Tanner, Pat Nolen and Devlin Tracey-Shaw each took one wicket. Clyde finished at 7/106.

CLUB NOTES

The veterans game will be held next Sunday, 12 February. Everyone is welcome to watch the old fellas and enjoy a barbecue at Cardinia. First ball will be bowled at 11am.
