Bulls trample the runs

CARDINIA’S Agrade side managed to restrict Pakenham’s classy batting lineup to 261 runs in its roundfive clash on Saturday.
Mark Cooper won the toss for the Bulls and elected to bowl.
Justin Berry returned to the side to bolster the bowling attack and struck early, taking the first wicket at 13.
A further 129 runs were added to the score before Dwayne Doig enticed Kulantha Ramanayake out of his crease and Luke Turner had the bails off in a flash to complete the stumping.
Cardinia then took 4/45 to see the score at 6/187.
The pressure from Cardinia’s fieldsman was too much for Dilshan Perera as he made the mistake of taking on Steve Paterson’s arm, being run out for 23.
Pakenham was bowled out in the 80th.
Dwayne Doig’s mammoth spell of 32.4 overs returned the figures of 6/107. Justin Berry finished with 2/57 and Ben DaRose one.

B GRADE

Playing Pakenham at home, Cardinia was off to a shaky start being 4/33.
Brodie Glen (17) joined opener Ryan Kitchin and got the score to 69 before the former’s dismissal brought about the tea interval.
After tea the run rate lifted when Rob Allen came to the crease. He struck the ball in a fearsome fashion on his way to a powerful, belligerent 75.
Brad Goodman compiling a fine 26 not out at the end of the innings.
Cardinia finished with a defendable 9/224.

D GRADE

Also playing Pakenham at home, Cardinia lost the toss and was asked to bat.
Peter Wilson opened the innings and in the very first over was joined by Matthew Argoon and was next out for a quickfire 10 that brought Daniel Cairns to the crease.
He and Wilson added 41 before the latter was out for 21. Cairns batted on to get his first half century in cricket. Ricky Delphine blasted two enormous sixes in his knock of 34 and Mitch Abbott made 11 in the total of 146.
Six bowlers were used in the 31 overs of play remaining, three of which were successful Matt Waixel, Matthew Argoon and Peter Wilson all took a wicket each to see the score at 3/79.

E GRADE

Playing Gembrook at Rythdale, Cardinia lost the toss and was asked to bowl.
Wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the day, until Gembrook was all out for 162 in the 64th over.
Chris Lemmon produced another phenomenal spell of bowling to take 8/42 from 21.2 overs.
This was his third fivewicket innings for this season. His exceptional performance left only two wickets for the rest of the team and these were picked up by Matt Masin and Rob Baumgartner.
In reply Cardinia is 1/4.

UNDER 17

Cardinia ventured to Kooweerup on Saturday morning with only seven players, however three under13 players, Jeremy Monckton, Sam Vanderzalm and Elijah Wade came into the side.
The Bulls could only manage 84 with captain Phil Strahan (23) doing the best. Nathaniel Wade (17) and Dylan Mitchell (17) both batted well and Sam Vanderzalm, eight.
Having to bowl seven overs, the Bulls have already been hit for 46 with just one scalp claimed – to Ricky Campbell.
