A NEW 55place childcare centre is to be built in Kooweerup.
Cardinia Shire Council approved a permit for the centre at its 2 October town planning meeting.
The centre is to be built in Station Street on land near the intersection with Salmon Street.
Seven objections were lodged by residents but councillors agreed with an officer’s recommendation that Mordette Pty Ltd’s permit application be approved, subject to conditions.
The council approved another childcare centre for the town earlier this year.
