A 49YEAROLD Berwick man died on Saturday after hitting his head on a houseboat on the River Murray in South Australia.
Michael Welch, or ‘Bluey’ as he was known, was holidaying with ten friends and family when the accident occurred.
Mr Welch’s fatherinlaw Gordon Fyfe said the father of two’s body would be returned from Adelaide today following a coroner’s report.
He said the closeknit family had been shocked by the tragic news and were expecting a big turnout at his funeral next week.
Mr Fyfe described his soninlaw as a fantastic father and said he was very well known in the community and had many friends from near and far.
“He lived on the edge and went at 200 miles an hour and gave everything 110 percent.
“He was someone who enjoyed life to the full. He was having a wild time and then a second later he was gone.
A funeral is set to be held at Akoonah Park in Berwick next week, but a date is yet to be determined.
