Lucy reins in Cardinia award

EQUESTRIAN Lucy Young of Tonimbuk took out the Cardinia Shire Award at the recent Tonimbuk International Horse Trials.
Lucy, riding her horse Mousestrap, finished second in the CIC One Star section of the event that attracted more than 320 entries, with riders coming from five different Australian states.
The Cardinia Shire Award is presented to the bestperformed local rider who resides in the Cardinia Shire.
It is aimed at encouraging and rewarding local riders to compete at the higher levels of the sport.
Cardinia Shire mayor Cr Kate Lampriere attended and made presentations to all placegetters of each of the six different classes conducted as well the presentation to Lucy Young.
The Cardinia Shire Award is a perpetual trophy that has been awarded over the past four years of the event.
The organising committee has been delighted at the ongoing support it has received from Cardinia Shire.
Committee president Stephen Weir said shire’s support had been wonderful and the event could not be held without it.
“We are also pleased to have the mayor attend and make the presentations to our competitors and particularly recognise and encourage local riders like Lucy Young to excel in the sport,” he said.
