IF smiles were outlawed in Pakenham, Sunday’s cup day crowd would be in serious trouble.
A record crowd filled the Pakenham racecourse to see 10 exciting races and enjoy all the food, wine and fun that a racegoer could handle.
Record entries into the Fashion on the Fields competition and an exciting finish to the $100,000 Pakenham Cup kept the smiles coming, as onlookers ate, drank and punted their way to a great day.
Winner of the Pakenham Gazette ‘Win A MiniMarquee’ competition, Jill Brown of Nar Nar Goon was the definite favourite among 10 of her friends, who all enjoyed a day out at the races with the compliments of the Gazette.
For those who backed Wild Classic in the Pakenham Cup, the day might have been a little sweeter, but win, lose or break even, the local crowd proved once again that the people of Pakenham know how to have fun!
