Street works for change

A MAKEOVER of Kooweerup’s central business district has won a $90,000 boost.
Cardinia Shire Council will redevelop the streetscape with the help of funds from the State Government.
The proposed works will include new works in the main retail and commercial part of town, including area of redevelopment near the former PMP print plant.
Works include:
Removal of existing concrete footpaths and the laying of new pavers;
Preparing and pouring mushroomcoloured concrete;
New street furniture and signs; and
New tree planting and other landscaping.
Western Port Province MP Geoff Hilton announced the funding last week, saying local businesses had told a Kooweerup taskforce set up by the council that improvements to pedestrian access were a priority.
“The proposed works will provide a complete package of attractive, safe streetscapes to both sides of Station Street in central Kooweerup,” Mr Hilton said.
