Vagg named new league chairman

MORNINGTON Peninsula Nepean Football League (MPNFL) directors elected Tony Vagg to the position of league chairman for 2007 at its preChristmas board meeting last week.
Vagg joined the MPNFL board last season and has many years’ experience in administration of football at local and regional level.
His extensive football background includes five years as Victorian Country Football League Mornington Region Manager, five years as Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League president, five years as president of the Pearcedale Junior Football Club, and membership of a number of recreational and sporting committees.
Directors opted for a leadership change as the MPNFL moves forward in what will be a challenging time, with clubs and leagues facing major issues as they continue their efforts to grow and prosper.
Vagg replaces John Watson, who has led the MPNFL with great energy and success for the past four years.
Watson oversaw changes including a successful major restructure of the previous divisions into three geographically based leagues.
He remains as a valued member of the MPNFL board.
Vagg, his deputy Russell Jacgung, and the MPNFL board will return after the Christmas break focused on the issues at hand including the finalisation of the current administration review together with the challenge of addressing the increasing complexities and requirements of running a strong and viable football competition.
