Acclaim builds for walls idea

I REALLY like Springfield Ward councillor Lorraine Wreford’s idea to have two “walls of acclaim” built in the municipality.
The walls would list the names of people who had reached a significant level of achievement in any field.
Cr Wreford said she had seen such a wall in Queensland and believed that having them built in Casey would acknowledge achievement, provide a record of history and create pride in our community.
She said the walls would be an outdoor structure and suggested one could be built at Casey Fields, Cranbourne, and the other in the civic centre precinct at Narre Warren. Council officers are expected to file a report on the idea during July.
My view is that the walls would be a source of pride for many families who would in years to come take their children along to see the name of a past relative or friend.
How often do we pause in front of an honour role that bears the name of an uncle, aunt, father, mother or grandparent with some pride?
