Club in good health

THE Langmore Day Club at Berwick took its name from one of Berwick’s most highly respected general practitioners, Dr Percy Langmore, who was a dedicated and pioneering doctor in the region.
The club comes under the wing of the Department of Veterans Affairs and the RSL.
It meets each Wednesday at the Berwick RSL Hall in Langmore Lane.
Meetings are informal and activities range from sitting quietly for a chat, small jobs such as pinning Anzac Day badges to cards to make them ready for sale, to touring trips.
Membership is made up from retired people with the eldest 96.
Coordinator Ivan Blitz said the club used the RSL building whenever possible.
“We come under the Department of Veterans Affairs, but we are an informal activity group and have 70 members,” he said.
“We go on trips, have guest speakers, entertainers, and run a stall to help raise money.
“People can buy things such as used $6 magazines for a few cents from our trading table.
“The club has no committee structure, but a coordinator and a team of helpers who provide lunch.”
