GP win for rally driver

By Callan Date
PAKENHAM is celebrating a close connection to the Australian Formula One Grand Prix with local business owner Ben Carvosso winning the modern class Grand Prix Rally at Albert Park last week.
Carvosso and codriver Chris Long raced their immaculate Ford XR6 Turbo over four days throughout Victoria and were rewarded with first place among vehicles manufactured from 1990 to 2006.
Carvosso, who manages Pakenham Imaging, was able to live every car lover’s dream by driving on the Albert Park circuit only hours before the F1 cars took to the track.
“We were the only Ford in the entire event so the cheers from all the Ford fans was great,” said Carvosso.
The XR6 Turbo was able to race in the event thanks to some businesses that provided sponsorship and support.
“Sign A Rama in Pakenham made the car look incredible, Star FM and Experien also helped in enabling us to compete in the rally,” said Carvosso.
