Gulls get extra drive

A WARRAGUL business is helping the Warragul Football Club keep its clubrooms in top shape thanks to the 2006 Toyota Good for Footy program.
The club, which produced the oldest Brownlow Medallist, Sydney Swan Barry Round, is undergoing a clubroom makeover thanks to the sponsorship organised by Ted Neill Motors.
The money has been used to buy a new flatscreen TV and to make much needed improvements to the canteen and club secretary Bob Baldry was thrilled with support.
“We pride ourselves on being a family club and supporting players from the local area,” he said.
“This sponsorship has provided us with the funds needed to keep up appearances and to provide an additional source of entertainment for players and our supporters.”
The club fields two senior and two junior sides, comprising about 100 players.
“We’ve got some terrific talent coming through and a strong supporter base at the club,” Baldry said.
Company principal Ted Neill said that he was delighted to be able to help.
“The Warragul Football Club has produced some wonderful AFL talent, such as Footscray’s Robbie Murphy and former Essendon player Alan Noonan. We hope to be a part of its continued success as both a community club and a producer of top AFL players,” he said.
Toyota has committed $1000 to its Good for Footy program for every goal kicked by its Toyota AFL ambassadors Nick Riewoldt, James Hird, Matthew Lloyd and Jonathan Brown, in addition to $50,000 that was provided to kickstart the sponsorship earlier this year.
So far Toyota has distributed more than $137,000 to local football clubs and leagues across Victoria and Southern New South Wales through a network of 55 dealers.
