DAMIEN Rhyne’s plusfour was enough to win the Par competition at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
The Agrade winner was Graeme A. Steel with plus3 and B grade was Geoff Porter also with plus3.
Down the lines went to Al Campbell plus4, Bob Dowse plus3, John Goodchild plus2, Paul Hobson plus2, Martin O’Hare plus2, Steve Bloomfield plus1, Dean Jones plus1, Graeme Steel plus1, Rod Cameron plus1, Ian Neason plus1, Neil De Silva, Ron Carroll, Jeff Paterson, Bob Yates, Glen Easto, Rob McCoubrie, Clint Sezney, Peter Korteman, Mike McKenna, Bob Scullion and Cameron McGregor all came in square.
Three players had birdies on the fifth hole to win a ball Ron Horne, Mark Hatton and Mick McManus.
Nearest the pins went to Cass Bannister on the golf shop second hole with Mick McManus taking the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
The Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighth hole was won by Stojko Kresojevic and the Hungry Jack’s 14th saw Martin O’Hare the winner. Brett Mottrom was the Pakenham Pizza 16thhole winner.
The B.M.R. Autos second shot on the sixth went to Mick McManus and the Unique Bathroom Design and Renovation 12th was won by Dean Jones.
The B.M.R. Autos Agrade longest drive went to Mason Shadwell and the B grade to Tony Sheahan. Bob Dowse was the winner of the McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive
Wayne Lamers and Mark Klaver won the raffle.
The next week two weeks will be Stableford followed by the October monthly medal on 15 October.
FAREWELL TO JASON
The club has said farewell to Jason McQualter whose friendliness in the golf shop always made members and green fees players feel welcome.
Jason will still be playing his golf at Pakenham, but has decided on a new career path.
The club wished Jason the best in his new venture and thanked him for his dedication over the past eight years.
NIGHT OF MUSIC
‘Unchain My Heart’, a tribute show to the genius of Joe Cocker and Ray Charles will be held on Saturday, 1 October at the club. Show with finger food costs $22.

CHARITY GOLF DAY
The MakeaWish (Cardinia Area) will hold a charity golf day on Monday, 10 October at Pakenham Golf Club.
There will be a shotgun start at 8am – report to the starter at 7.30am
Cost: Pakenham Golf Club members $25, with a meal provided after the round. A Dutch auction and raffle will be held on the day.
MONDAY RESULTS
A small field took part in the Stableford competition.
The winner was Brian Webster with 41 points from Scott Hooper with 40. Nik Hock and Al Campbell were the downtheline winners.
Nearest the pin on the eighth hole went to Kevin Salau.
WEDNESDAY RESULTS
The morning competition attracted a large field with the sun shining for the first time in a week.
More than 70 players took part in the Stableford round with Kevin Wraight taking advantage of the conditions, coming in with a great score of 43 points.
Runnerup on a countback was Des Rueben from Angie Peluso and Greg Roberts – all with 39 points.
Down the lines went to David Horne 38, Brian Doherty 37, Ron Miller 37, Norm Coley 37, Ron Carroll 36 and George Coffey 36.
Nearest the pin on the second went to Angie Peluso and the 14th hole went to Arthur Sellars.
SUNDAY RESULTS
The winner of the morning competition was David K. Manning.
LADIES
The rescheduled August monthly medal was the competition with 38 players taking part.
The winner was Shirley Roberts with 72 nett. Divisiontwo winner was Lyn Murray with 78 nett and divisionthree winner was June McCardel with 75 nett.
Nearest the pin on the second and eighth holes were won by Shirley Roberts and the 14th went to Kay Jones.
Putting was won by Helen Aurish with 28.
Downtheline balls were awarded to Marg Blake, Lorraine Molnar, Marg Jackson, Wendy Wightman, Lyn Avent, Judith McDonald, Marion Lloyd and Marg Andrews.
This Thursday will be Stableford for the Yarra Ridge Wine Day.
