Saddled up Shane rides again

By Paul Dunlop
A STOLEN Christmas bike has been reunited with its delighted young owner.
Shane Woolley was devastated when his new BMX was stolen just days after he received it.
The bike was taken from Shane’s home in Deveney Street, Pakenham. To his joy, it was later handed in to Pakenham Police Station.
Shane’s mum, Colleen, told the Gazette she got a big surprise when told the bike was in safe hands.
“I wasn’t even going to ring the police, I thought it was a lost cause,” she said.
“Shane was devastated to have it stolen. He was rapt when he got the bike for Christmas and I’m a single mum, I couldn’t afford to get him another one.”
Constable Jen McKenna said Shane was very excited to get his bike back.
“Colleen had said she didn’t think she’d get it back, Shane had the most priceless look on his face when we were able to hand it over,” she said.
A resident found the bike dumped on his nature strip and dropped into the new police and emergency service headquarters on the Princes Highway.
Const McKenna said any residents missing bikes should contact police.
