THE Casey Scorpions defeated Box Hill Hawks in the club’s last hitout before the season opener against Tasmania in Launceston this Friday night.
The senior game was played at a frenzied pace as the wide open spaces of Box Hill City Oval allowed for a fast and free flowing game. The Scorpions won the toss and kicked with the aid of a strong breeze which enabled the club to head the quarter time break 7 goals clear. This gap was never closed and the Scorpions were victorious by 27 points. All is in readiness as the Scorpions head to Tasmania for their round one game on Friday night.
RESERVES
In wet and blustery conditions, the reserves ran out twopoint victors over a spirited Box Hill in a hard fought game. The reserves side, which included the likes of Mark McGough and Xavier Clarke were in front for most of the day, until a late Box Hill charge put them in front with minutes to go. A late goal to the Scorpions proved the difference in the close finish.
