Construction workers from around Pakenham recently had free skin checks and learnt how to protect themselves from the sun while on the job.
The Sunsmart Awareness Day was organised by WorkSafe Victoria, the Victorian Volume Home Builders Safety Alliance and was hosted by Delfin Lend Lease at Lakeside Pakenham.
Up to 50 workers heard talks about the dangers of prolonged sun exposure and a doctor was on hand to provide free skin checks for workers.
Delfin environmental health and safety manager Peter Clements said overexposure to the sun’s rays could cause very serious health problems for outdoor workers.
