Speed drivers nabbed

PAKENHAM Police have issued 133 speeding notices in the past six months as part of Operation Earlybird.
The special operation was conducted between 5am and 1pm on 17 different occasions, with officers focusing on early morning work traffic.
Acting Sergeant Col Davies said police would continue with Operation Earlybird throughout the remainder of this year.
“People think they can get away with speeding early in the morning, but police are still out at this time,” Act Sgt Davies said.
More than 100 drivers were caught exceeding the speed limit by less than 20km/h, while 19 motorists were clocked travelling more than 25km/h over the speed limit.
Act Sgt Davies said police were focusing on several problem areas throughout Cardinia, including Princes Highway, South Gippsland Highway and Ballarto Road.
