Super win for Beaconsfield

BEACONSFIELD Superules division three side won its first game for the season at the weekend, defeating Murrumbeena by 38 points at Perc Allison Oval and staying in touch with the four.
Beaconsfield got off to a great start with Walsh laying a good tackle and converted the resultant free kick for the first goal.
Cameron, in the ruck, tapped the ball to Lowe who handballed to a running McKenna who kicked the ball long to a lead from Vandenberghe at fullforward.
He marked and kicked truly for Beaconsfield’s second goal.
Heavy conditions and more intensity by Murrumbeena made further scoring difficult.
At quarter time Beaconsfield led by eight points.
Cameron put his stamp on the game around the ground and when he passed to Mitchell, 30 meters out, Beaconsfield had its first goal for the second term.
The remainder was played between halfforward and halfback, with neither side able to break through.
It was late in the term when Beaconsfield posted another two goals through Walsh and Veltemyer. Ross and Burr on the backline only allowed Murrumbeena one point for the quarter.
At halftime Beaconsfield led by 26 points.
The third term saw Murrumbeena throw everything at Beaconsfield and kicked two goals while allowing Beaconsfield two points.
Beaconsfield’s overuse of the ball created some costly turnovers allowing Murrumbeena back into the game.
At threequarter time Beaconsfield led by 15 points.
Veltemyer presented well at fullforward and was rewarded with two goals and when the captain Gubbins marked and kicked his first goal, it put the game beyond Murrumbeena’s reach.
Beaconsfield’s backline pressure was superb during the last term, not allowing Murrumbeena to score.
Scores: Beaconsfield 8.11.59 d Murrumbeena 3.3.21. Goals:Beaconsfield: Veltemyer 3, Walsh 2, Vandenberghe, Gubbins, Mitchell, 1. Best: Vallentine, Walsh, Cameron.
