Warragul sets the pace

ENTRIES are strong for the Warragul harness racing meeting this Thursday afternoon.
In a lucky boost for the club, Thursday night’s race meeting at Geelong has been cancelled due to a lack of television coverage, leaving the Warragul meeting as the day’s only fixture.
As a result, full fields are expected in most races, with an unusually high number of trainers from west of Melbourne due to bring horses across.
Thursday is also the first day of a sixmeeting prize giveaway incentive for unplaced horses, where more than $10,000 in products will be given away by the Warragul club to two lucky trainers per race who are unlucky to miss earning a prize money cheque.
Local hopes of a victory on Thursday might rest with the Warragulbased Gippsland Harness Training Centre, which will have three starters in the one race.
They are proven types Selsdon and Navy Seal and the unusually named debutante Eat Da Wagonwheel.
The centre is also represented later in the program with Knight Of The Road, which produced an eyecatching second placing at Cranbourne last Friday.
Thursday’s program starts at 1.20pm, with the last race at 5.40pm and free entry for patrons after 3pm.
