AN incredible bowling performance that yeilded match figures of nine wickets for only four runs by under15 Beacy Saints’ Jade Osborne against Officer was the highlight of the weekend games.
Osborne starred, retiring after scoring 33 with the bat, and then going on a second innings wicket blitz, producing a staggering six overs, five maidens and seven wickets for one run.
He followed that with two wickets for three in Officer’s second knock, giving him an outstanding return for the game.
Robert Wynne, representing Emerald Blacks and Beaconsfield’s Peter Sofra produced the best allround performance in under17 ranks.
Wynne captured 3/13 from eight overs and also scored 19 against his Pakenham opponents, while Sofra scored 52 and snared 3/8 from eight overs against Clyde.
The under17 batsmen who scored 50 or better were Peter Sofra (Beaconsfield Bandits), M. Livermore (Emerald Reds), Sam Pullen (Nar Nar Goon), Andrew Martin (Merinda Park), Jake Bardwell and Nick Broham (PUT) and Matt Couper (Officer).
Several under15 players reached the retirement score of 30 on Saturday.
They included Matt Hargreaves, Josh Morcom and Jay Wilson (Tooradin), Glen Slater, Anthony Burr, Daniel McCalman and Stuart Martin (Merinda Park Reds), Steve Pimm (Nar Nar Goon) and D. TracyShaw (Cardinia).
The highlight of the under13 round was a tied result when Nar Nar Goon Reds scored 8/96 and Beaconsfield Tigers totalled 4/96.
The Goons’ Hayden Lownds snared 2/2 from three overs, while his teammate James Canty scored 20 notout.
Other under13 players who reached the retirement score of 20 or more included Zac McMillan (Pakenham Gold), B. Kennedy and E. McClean (Clyde), J. Kennedy (Gembrook), Jayden Joyce, Matt Buntine and Jackson Hogan (Upper Beaconsfield), Jason Pongracic, Simon Spencer and Josh Prudden (Merinda Park) and Simon Prouse and Kyle Gibbs (Upper Beaconsfield Whites).
Special praise this week goes to Emerald Bushrangers allrounder N. Bounds who scored 25 notout and captured 3/3 from three overs against the Emerald Redbacks.
