Yabby openers show the way

PAKENHAM UpperToomuc (PUT) Agrade openers John Wallin (74) and Justin Harris (26), together with Darren Warne (22), began the innings well, chasing Kooweerup’s massive score of 371.
Wallin and Richard Fromhold (11) added 54 for the fourth wicket.
Chris Smith (62) and Rob Borlase (43) had an excellent 83run partnership but the final score 266 meant defeat by 105 runs.

B GRADE

Both PUT openers fell cheaply in pursuit of Nyora’s massive 455, and Zac Clough (41) and Chris Sharpe (40) added 71 for the third wicket.
Brett Carey (27) and Nick Sleep (20) got starts, but three wickets fell at 148 to dash the Yabbies’ hopes.
Stuart Davis scored 28 runs, but the total was 194 after 53 overs.

D GRADE

Jake Abel (16), Paul Ryan (13), Frank Scartuchio (21 not out) and Dave Merrigan (37) added quick runs to push the score along to 184.
Tooradin lost two quick wickets in its second innings but consolidated.
The Yabbies stuck to the task and removed the Seagulls for 103 to score an outright win.
Adrian Garvey, Brett Maddock Scartuchio and Nick Martens each took two wickets.
Ryan Ford knocked off the required runs to bag the muchneeded points.

E GRADE

PUT lost to Tooradin by 64 runs at Rutter Park, where two good Seagull halfcenturies proved the difference.
Damian Garth bowled well to claim 3/52 from 15 overs and Ron Milnes took 2/47.
