Berwick and District Tennis Association

MORE than 150 junior players took part in the Berwick and District Tennis Association graded championships held at the Casey Tennis Centre on Thursday and Friday, 28 and 29 of September.
The conditions were ideal for tennis on both days with the majority of the singles matches played on Thursday and the doubles and finals’ matches played on the Friday.
The events were graded into four boys singles events and three girls singles events, as well as five doubles events.
Each player competed in at least three matches in each of the singles and doubles events, giving a total of more than 350 sets of tennis through the two days.
Twelve of the 14 affiliated clubs had representatives.
Special thanks went to tournament sponsors, Not Just Tennis in Beaconsfield and Court Coverage, as well as local tennis coaches Paul Osborne, Alison Miller, Warrick MacGowan and Justin Yeo for volunteering more than 80 hours to run the tournament for the BDTA.
All of the profits from the tournament will be put back into local tennis to help increase the profile of the sport and encourage new children to take up the sport at their local tennis club.
