In good conditions at Gembrook, the Brookers went into the game looking to recover from a disastrous game the previous week, including Tom Alford and firstgamer Scott Medwell for the Brookers.
The first quarter started as a scrappy affair with the Brookers being bottled up for half of the quarter. Mitch Evans, Ben Fenton and Dean Allcott were working hard and with Nick Green continuing with his great form the Brookers taking it up to the Belgrave side. The onballers finally got on top and, with a strong presence of Matt Timothy and Matt Failla up forward, the Brookers went in at quartertime a couple of goals in the lead.
The second quarter started better with great passages by the Brookers. The forward line of Dave Hope, Steve Goodie, Nathan Kruzicevic, Alford and Harry Chernishoff played well and the Brookers piled on six unanswered goals.
In the third quarter the Brookers piled on another five answered goals. The back line was proving too tough for Belgrave.
The Brookers were challenged by the coaching staff to kick another six goals in the last quarter and succeeded.
Scores: GembrookCockatoo 21.12.138 d Belgrave 6.2.38.
Goals: Matt Ttimothy 6, Matt Failla 3, Glen Waters, Steve Goodie, Dean Allcott, Mitch Evans 2, Nathan Kruzicevic, Nathan Thomas, Tristan Pinkerster, Ben Fenton, Dave Hope 1.
