A FINE fivewicket haul from Cardinia Agrade’s Dwayne Doig helped his team to a strong position against Tooradin, dismissing it for 171 on Saturday.
The wicket wreckage continued in Bgrade with Cameron Haynes demolishing KilcundaBass with an outstanding nine victims.
In Agrade Doig was joined with a fine performance by Chris Remy with three wickets.
Playing at Tooradin, the Bulls lost the toss and were asked to bowl.
Chris Remy and Dwayne Doig opened the bowling.
Remy struck immediately, taking the first two wickets. Brad Goodman got the third and then Doig took his first, the score stuttering to 4/34 for the Seagulls.
Adam Hobson was introduced into the attack and bowled a fine line and length to continually beat the bat; he was unfortunate not to take a wicket but his 17over spell had only 24 runs taken from it.
Doig continued his fine form, finishing with 5/61 from 25 penetrating overs.
Remy finished with 3/25 in his tidy 10over spell and Tooradin was all out for 171 in the final over the day’s play.
B GRADE
Cameron Haynes led the Bulls’ stampede against KilcundaBass at the weekend.
Haynes’ fearsome spell of 16 overs returned 9/47, his career best figures and the best at the club since Brian Vandenberghe took 10/11 against Catani.
Haynes bowled six of his victims and the sharks were in dire straits at 8/59.
A solid partnership of 92 for the ninth wicket helped KilcundaBass to the respectable total of 159.
The Bulls are 2/57 in reply with both Ryan DeReus and Daniel Strahan on 20 notout.
D GRADE
It was a bad day for the Bulls.
The toss was lost and they were asked to bowl and after just 54 overs Pakenham UpperToomuc captain declared with his team reaching 5/355.
All the bowlers tried their hardest, but unfortunately the opportunities they were creating were flying through gaps and over the heads of the fielders.
Ricky Campbell, Matt Waixel, Ryan Webster and under15 Travis Welsh were the successful bowlers, all taking one each.
Ben Monckton got the important wicket of Luke Gunton from a superb piece of fielding and a direct hit on the stumps.
Having to face 13 overs, Matthew Argoon and Ryan Webster opened the innings.
Webster made 10, before being caught behind. Ben Monckton and Matt Hobson both succumbed before the end of play, Monckton on the very last ball of the day.
The Bulls are 3/43 chasing the mammoth total and Argoon remains 27 notout with Ricky Campbell to join him at the crease.
E GRADE
Cardinia has already claimed first innings points against Lang Lang.
The Tigers were bowled out for 84 thanks to Brad Snooks, Bobby Baumgartner and Matt Masin who took three wickets and just 31 overs to rout the Tigers.
In reply, Cardinia is 8/114 with Gary Quinlan (32) again getting amongst the runs and Jeff Baily (19) and Gary Glen (17) both enjoying their time in the centre.
UNDER 15
Taking on the powerful outfit of Catani, the Bulls were rolled for 69.
Glen Easton scored 15, as did Jason Fisher and Pat Nolan mustered 10 in the lowly total.
In reply, Catani is 0/16 from nine overs.
LEGENDS MATCH
The second annual ‘legends match’ was held on Sunday with another good turnout.
Chris Gunton’s team was victorious again, but Dave Webster has vowed revenge next year.
All enjoyed seeing the old players back on the field again.
A club spokesperson said since last year all the players had worked on their weaknesses.
“For most it was weight and speed – they’re all now fatter and slower than ever,” he joked.
