CARDINIA Agrade’s allrounder Mark Cooper has again produced a phenomenal spell of bowling to take six wickets and restrict Kooweerup to 147 on day one, round three on Saturday.
Cooper bowled 18 meticulous overs for the Bulls and shook the Demons, returning 6/51.
Opening bowlers Chris Remy and Adam Hobson both bowled tightly at the top of the innings, Hobson taking 2/14 from 12 tight overs that included seven maidens. Remy snared 2/29 from 16.3.
Having to bat out the remaining 11 overs of the day, Cooper and John Nooy opened the innings.
Nooy was out lbw for 6 in the Bulls’ total of 21.
Cooper and Jamie Glen are 7 and 3 not out respectively.
B GRADE
Playing at Nyora, the Bulls lost the toss and were asked to bowl.
Ryan Kitchin, in for his first match of the season, was the main wicket taker with 4/61 from 23.3 overs.
Ryan DeReus broke his hoodoo and took his first wickets for the club capturing 2/27. Young Brady Welsh again impressed with 2/29.
Opening bowlers Brodie Glen and Nathaniel Wade both took one wicket each.
The Bulls will need to bat well to surpass Nyora’s total of 226.
D GRADE
Playing Merinda Park at Lyndhurst Secondary College, the Bulls were hit to all parts of the ground for 322.
Everyone was given the opportunity to bowl. James Daly, Travis Welsh, Ryan Webster, Matt Waixel and Chris Lemmon all took one wicket each.
Cardinia could only manage eight wickets, three of which were runouts.
It will take a spirited effort for the Bulls to take match points.
E GRADE
The Bulls also played Merinda Park, but faired much better bowling the Cobras out for 150.
Wayne Snooks took 4/27, new player Matt Masin 3/26, Jeff Bailey 2/21 and Gary Glen with 1/13.
Matt Ryan took two catches behind the stumps and the Bulls are looking to charge home this week to take the points.
UNDER 13
Playing Clyde at home for the first Friday night match of the season, Clyde made 128 after electing to bat.
Doug Linford was the best of the bowlers taking 3/10, Nick Cairns, playing his first game, took 2/20 and Trent Wheller, Tom Weinzierl and Jason Bonny all took one wicket each.
