Burglars hit businesses, home

PAKENHAM businesses have been targeted a spate of burglaries in the past week.
The bottle shop of the Pakenham Hotel on Main Street was broken into on Thursday evening.
Detective Senior Constable David Melia of Pakenham Police said two casks of wine worth $100 were taken some time after 9pm on Thursday.
A mechanical repair business on the corner of the Princes Highway and Michael Street had its front door forced open on Thursday about 11pm.
Det Sen Const Melia said four wheels worth $1200 were taken.
Det Sen Const Melia said an attempted breakin also occurred sometime between 1 and 4 January at the adult shop in Racecourse Road, Pakenham.
“There was an attempt to gain entry (to the shop) which caused minor damage,” he said.
“A home in Balmoral Way, Pakenham, was also broken into sometime between 9am on 1 January and 4pm on 3 January.”
The residents were on holidays at the time.
Det Sen Const Melia said a side window at the home had been forced open and $150 cash was stolen.
Pakenham detectives are seeking witnesses to any of the burglaries.
