Cobras bite first

MERINDA Park’s Agrade team started the season well with a firstinnings score against Catani of 164 on Saturday.
New captaincoach Craig Boswell won the toss and decided to bat, but the Cobras were in early trouble at 2/12.
Then Jess Mathers (28) and Heath Gibson, in his first Agrade match top scored with 34.
There were other good contributions from Brett Armitage (14), Rod Morrison (14 not out) and Craig Boswell (20).
The day was completed with the Cobras getting a late breakthrough thanks to Jess Mathers.
At stumps Catani was 1/4.

B GRADE

The Cobras didn’t have a great day in the field after new captain Russell Dunn won the toss and Nar Nar Goon compiled 4/313 with Craig Lewis making a fine 100 not out.
Best of the bowlers was Cobra veteran Anthony Clarke with 1/24.
All the bowlers did well with juniors Andrew Martin and Anthony Burr performing well.

D GRADE

The Cobras had a great day with the bat after being sent in by Pakenham, the highlight being yet another century to John Cuthbertson.
His 113 helped the Cobras to a massive total of 327.
There were also some good contributions from Darren Smith (53), Mark Beecham (38) and Craig Robertson (25).

E GRADE

The Cobras had a day that they would rather forget after being sent in by Tooradin and bowled out for only 106.
The hosts then made 155 by stumps for the loss of only one wicket.
The only highlight for the Cobras was 33 from Wayne Bruce and 19 from Robert Strang who also picked up the only wicket to fall in the Tooradin innings.
