Dean ROCs Young Gun award

DEAN Blake has won the inaugural Gazette Young Gun award in the CaseyCardinia League for the most outstanding firstseason senior player in the league.
Blake, 19, won the award from Pakenham duo Karl Russo and Luke Walker, Hampton Park’s Daniel Stevenson and Cranbourne youngster Matthew Thompson.
All nominations are 19 years old and all were in their first season up from under18 level with their clubs.
Blake is all class and that was recognised by interleague selectors earlier this year, resulting in him being selected in the 28man final squad that competed for the MPNFL at Warrnambool.
He started his football with Beaconsfield juniors, but transferred to ROC after under 13s and has been with the Kangaroos since, working his way up through the under 18s.
Blake shows poise and ability beyond his years as a wingman and has had an outstanding season with the league newcomers.
He is a worthy winner of the award which created great interest in local football circles this season.
